Camassia quamash is a California native that puts forth small blue flower clusters in mild spring weather. It quickly goes dormant once the dry heat of summer arrives. This seems to be a good year for them — we have several dozen scattered through our meadow right now. Other years, we’ve seen only four or five. Their small bulbs are edible but they are in no danger from us. Blue is a fairly rare color in the flower world. We hope they continue to multiply.
